The Denbigh Summer Carnival is an outdoor event for the whole family. The next Carnival takes place on Saturday 23rd June 2018, starting at 11am with a procession of floats, Carnival Royalty and performers. The procession leaves from Caledfryn (the Council offices) on Smithfield Road and then passes through Lenten Pool, over the High Street and down Vale Street, before turning onto Ruthin Road and Park Street to enter Middle Park (next to Denbigh Town FC, behind Denbigh Infirmary).
Denbigh Carnival offers a huge variety of entertainment and activities for all and best of all, it is free entry for everyone! 2017’s Carnival was the fifth since its resurrection and was the biggest and best yet.
The attractions and activities below are being confirmed, so keep checking back as the plans come together! If you are part of the Royal Retinue for another Carnival and would like to visit Denbigh Carnival to represent your town, you must register by completing our form.

The Cambria Marching Band opened the Carnival in our first year and have been delighting the Carnival audience ever since. They are guaranteed to make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck as they bring their music to the streets of Denbigh. Come and listen to their music and you could even learn more about joining up yourself! There’ll be a performance in Arena 2 at 12.30 too if you fancy trying out!
If you are coming and making a day of it on the Carnival field, you will definitely need some refreshments during your visit!
We are going to have a number of different vendors on the field. There will be delicious drinks and quality ices from the ice cream sellers and an array of hot food. Come along to see what we have to offer!
Carnival is not just the procession and all the activities. We also have entertainment planned throughout the day too!
Morris Dancing Competition
The Carnival Guild of Wales will be running another fantastic morris dancing competition. Come along and see the brilliant choreography, costumes and medal winners!
Last year, we welcomed the stilt walkers from Circus Cimera. They were amazing and a really popular part of the Carnival and procession. We’re delighted they are coming back in 2018!
Tug of War
We are looking for teams to take part in our Tug of War. Last year, there were many teams taking part. Some had been in training ahead of the heats…others formed a team on the day! Can the Railway pub team be beaten? We’ll be holding kids competitions too!
Fancy Dress Competition
Carnival wouldn’t be Carnival without our Fancy Dress competition! This year’s theme is Science Fiction, so what do you want to be? Will we see any Dr Who baddies or spacemen? Do you want to be an alien character? Get your thinking caps on to impress our judges. There are prizes for the best!
We will also give out prizes for the best float and walking party from the procession which kicks off the whole day. And of course we can’t forget the crowning of the Carnival royalty, can we?
It is going to be a packed day of entertainment, fun and brilliant community for Denbigh to enjoy. And the list isn’t complete yet, so keep coming back to the website or Facebook for updates!
